UT Exhibition of Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement
Congratuations to Mark Hawkins, Laura Chapman, Patrica Heldt, and
Steven Hahn for receiving the highest award ($200) out of over
170 entries for their work entitled:
The Determinants of Wine Selection: Diner's Experiences, Market Segments
and Product Promotions" (faculty advisor - Rachel Chen). In addition
these four individuals will share another $250 as recipients of one of 3
"best of show" awards given by Phi Delta Kappa and a college match
award of $200. Dr Chen and the four students will also be invited to attend
the Chancellor's Banquet in April.
Cowgirl Creamery Lecture
Peggy Smith and Sue Conley, UT alumnae and founders of Cowgirl Creamery -- an award winning cheese company located in northern California, are visiting our department and will give a lecture Monday, February 5, 10:10 a.m., in the Library Auditorium about how their company has helped to define a regional food identity for Northern California's Point Reyes National Seashore by creating a retail showcase for local agricultural goods.

John Antun’s culinary training grant was featured in a special section on UT Outreach in the Knoxville News Sentinel on January 19, 2007.
Wanda Costen’s article, “Strategic recruitment: Aligning recruitment practices with business strategy,” was published in the International Journal of Business and Economics Perspectives, vol. 1, no. 2, 2006. This article was written with Dr. Anna Green of Florida A&M University.
Steve Morse gave two presentations in January to Tennessee industry groups. He presented economic trends in the Chattanooga area hospitality industry to the Greater Chattanooga Lodging Association, and presented two workshops on economic impacts and return on investment analysis to the TN Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus.
Warren Jahn, Ph.D. student in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism, was recognized by the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International for receiving its $2,000 scholarship and for his research in revenue management at the 20th Annual Adrian Industry Awards in New York, NY.
