Steve Morse, Ph.D.
Associate Professor
In August 2005, Steve Morse joined UT as Director of the UT Tourism Institute and associate professor in the Department of Retail, Hospitality and Tourism Management. I enjoy applying my economic background to analyze current applied issues in the hospitality and tourism sectors of the economy. The areas I teach and complete research include: hotel revenue management, hotel and food service employment trends, tourism consumer demand trends, tourist demand patterns, hospitality and tourism marketing, tourist demand forecasting, and examining the role of the hospitality and tourism sectors in U.S., regional, state and local economies, and economic impact and feasibility studies for the hospitality and tourism sectors. I enjoy completing research with undergraduate, masters and doctoral level students with whom I list first on research publications.
Originally from Whitesburg, GA, Morse earned the B.S. in Ag. Economics from the University of Georgia, and the Ph.D. in Ag. Economics from the University of Tennessee. He was formerly Professor in the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management at the University of South Carolina for nine years.
